Full name for nn Callie

Callie is on my sister's list but her DH says it sounds like a nn.

1. Does Callie sound like a nn?  Or could it stand on its own?

2. What name would Callie be short for?  (I've already suggested Calista and Calliope.)

I do know a baby whose full name is Callie.  Personally not a fan, but I think it can be done if she likes it.  I do like the name Calista.  I can't think of other names besides the two you suggested off the top of my head.

I love Calliope. I knew a girl in high school named Callie, stood on it's own just fine. But it does also sound like a nn.

I know a Callie Sophia...Callie is her full name. I think it works.

That being said, I do love Calista.

I have a cousin named Kaliana. Her nn Kali pronounced just like Callie. It's NMS, but it's the only other name I can think of that Callie could be a nn for other than Calista and Calliope.

One of my good friends is named Callie. It's her full name and I think it's just fine on its own. Since she's such a good friend, I have a really positive association with the name. I would say just use Callie unless you love one of the more "formal" versions just as much.

I really like Calliope.  It can stand on it's own though.  My besties name is Kallie.

The only Callie (in this case Cali) I know is short for California.

I know a Callie whose name is just Callie, but it's spelled Calleigh.

I have a relative who's full name is "Kalli".  I always assumed it was a legit name.

I also like Calla....big sister is Laurel though - not sure about the whole flower theme.

It sounds very incomplete.  No option of a more "formal" name.  We loved "Calista" but rejected it because of the nickname "Callie."  Our last name is Bailey, so it sounded very "valley girl."  "Callie Bailey, like OMG!!  TOTALLY!"  LOL.  I just think it's really terrible as a stand alone name.  The only option it gives her in later years is her middle name or to go by "Cal."  And it's a little cutesy feeling. 

I love the suggestion of "Calla" though.  I don't think too many people will associate the flower thing.  That one went right over my head.
