My great grandfather was Peter Mack. I love Mack but does it flow at all with Preston....Mack Preston, is that too harsh sounding? I like Peter but Peter Preston is just too much for me. What do you think?

My brother-in-law's last name is Mack, and it comes with a lot of nicknames. Big Mack, Daddy Mack, etc. Slang for Mack can also mean pimp or a very flirtatious player. He deals with it because it's his last name, but I don't know how he would treat it as a first.
Both my brother and father are Billy Mac and they never got any nicknames or slang. I must say I don't think it flows that well. I don't know what to suggest. I feel your pain I just decide not to use my grandfather's name after a hard debate. I just think he'll still be a part of his heritage. If you had to pick one though I'd take Peter Preston then his nickname could be Pete Preston.
I like Mack as a NN, but I think I'd use Michael as the full name.
This. Mack is very much nn only to me. I do like Peter, but yeah, not with Preston. Do you not like Preston as a fn? I think Preston Mack would be good.
Prestion is my FI's MN that has been passed down through generations so he wants to keep the tradition.

I actually like Mack. It's cute. Maybe because I know a great guy w/ the name. I believe his is a nn for Mackenzy, which is a family name. I don't think it's bad as a stand alone name, though. For years I never knew his was a nn for anything. I think Mack Preston sounds ok. To me family meaning is more important than flow.

Our last name rhymes with Lincolns and I think Mack flows well with it. Mack Preston "Lincolns" seems to flow a little better. I would like to honor my great grandfather.

I like Mack. I knew a kid named Mack growing up and I always thought it was a cool name. He'll probably be the only one in his class who has it, which to me is a positive, as long as the name isn't too crazy weird, which Mack is not. Plus the family connection is cool.

I know 2 people with this name. I think it's great and fits them perfectly. If it wasn't my cousins name, I would consider it.

I love it. Recently lost an uncle by this name. He had young kids so I think they should be able to use it, otherwise I'd consider it. Very Scottish.
I agree with Preston Mack.
