How to squash the fear..

So ever since movements became a regular thing for me (I was 25 weeks when I felt for sure movement)  it has always been a worry. I see everyone else talk about how often their baby moves and so I always figured hardly any movement = a reason to worry. Kick counts have never really worked for me. They just seem to add stress.

Anyways, baby will move a ton for about a week and then stop. Which sends me into panic mode. I have been to birthplace several times because of this and every single time, everything is "perfect and looks great." don't get me wrong I am SO thankful for that but how do I distinguish the times he's just slowing down, to something being wrong? I can't tell and I am upset all the time because of this.

I have an AP so I know that contributes to not feeling movement but it's hard when I have constantly felt it and then it stops. Anyone have any advice on how I not worry or when to know WHEN to worry?

TIA.

  • ditto PP.  Do you know what position your baby is in? If baby is head down and you have AP then its possible babies back is against your placenta and the kicks are aimed at your back- less likely to feel them.  or if the babys feet are against the placenta- again, likely not to feel them.  so you are most likely to feel them when babys back is to one side and legs are towards the other.

I have found when I lay down baby tends to get into that last position with the feet on the side and thats when I feel  a LOT of movement.  so my advice is, if  you haven't felt the baby in a while drink something with some sugar (OJ, gatorade, apple juice etc) and lay on your side to try to feel some movements.

I think he is head down due to the fact I feel all mmy movement up top and his butt I believe is at the top also. I feel a lot of pressure and a ball rolling around at the top and not so much anything at the bottom. This is all driving me insane :(

I posted about this about  a week ago. I got some pretty good suggestions, mostly about just biting the bullet any buying a doppler. ( You can also rent them) I haven't but I am thinking about it the only downside is that you may not be able to pick up the heartbeat and then you'd stress out again. You would have to play around with the doppler to get used to it and figure out where the baby is. I understand how you feel, I have been to L&D already and have had my nurse check with a doppler more than once. I know everyone says lay on your left side, but my LO moves more when I lay on my right side- just a thought.

Thanks! I have a Doppler! Its definitely worth it but my thinking is that just because there's a heartbeat in a normal range doesn't mean everything is okay.
