Anyone else? We are really leaning towards Emme as our baby girl's name, but it's so close to Emma and Emily, number 3 and number 6 respectively (neither of which I'm a fan), that I'm hesitating. When I read the rest of the names on the list, I just don't love any of them. Going up to the top 500 gives a few more options, but still, nothing I'm crazy about.
I really think baby girl might not have a name until she's born, which I don't want, but it's better than settling on a name I don't love.
Re: I read the top 100 names and feel "eh" about all of them!
There are loads more names than that list (probably better too). There are lots of sources to get name ideas. Books that you love, movies, actresses etc. A lot of people on here recommend looking at movie credits.
What about Emmeline and Emme as a nickname? Then if she thinks Emme is too close to the other names she can go by the full name. No matter what, any Em-- name will be close to Emma and Emily so you'll have to make your peace with that or find a completley different sounding name.
DS didn't have a name until two days after he was born and it may take even longer for this baby. Don't rush it. Names are important. It really helped us to be able to look at him and get to know him a bit.
That being said, I really like PP's suggestion of Emmeline.
I think Emme is cute and that coming up with a longer version of Emme would be awesome and might give a more adult feel to the name. Overall, I like Emme a lot. Just our of curiousity, what are other names on your list?
We're going with Camille with is like 240 I think, but Camila is in the top 100. With girl names, I seem to be drawn to less popular names but with boys, I'm almost always picking within the top 100.
I strongly dislike it!
I do like Emmeline, but DH thinks it sounds like a made up name. Even though Emma and Emily are so popular, I didn't really take it into account at first because I don't know any little girls with those names. I know a couple of Emily's, but they are my age.
Names I like that DH vetoed: Lena (pronounced Lay-na), Mila, Josie, Hailey, Tessa
We also both like Jocelyn, but don't love it.
He feels "eh" about most names too, but likes just Emme the best.
oohhh I love Esme! Do you know what it means?
Esme means loved in French or can also be short for Esmeralda which means emerald.
Not a fan.
We are considering this, but both love Emme so my h more than Emilia and would probably never use Emilia, so I feel like what's the point?
