WDYT of the name Rowan? DH suggested this yesterday, and I think it's starting to grow on me. I'd love to hear your honest opinions, though!

For girl or boy? I've seen girls with this name, even though I see it suggested on here for a boy. I don't like it for a boy, but think it's alright for a girl. Not really my style though!

My lifelong best friend is a girl named Rowan, so I'm a bit biased but I love the name! :-)

Oh, I didn't even realize it was used for both! I actually have never met or heard of a girl Rowan. That is definitely something to think about it! Thank you!

My paternal grandmother had Rowan has her maiden name so it holds some meaning to me.  I don't think I'd use it, but it definitely helps me like it a lot.

It's also the name of a university around here so I hear it a lot in regards to something non-human :-)

 

Oh good! I'm glad I'm not the only one that sees it as a boy's name! It just screams "boy" to me for some reason, haha.

Its in the running for us (boy) so I obviously love it. It's ranked 309 for boys and 535 for females in 2011.

It's a guilty pleasure for me as a girl's name.

Since it went on my list as a girl name, I have a hard time seeing it as masculine AT ALL.

I really like Rowan for a boy, it would be on my list but DH vetoed it. I do have a friend, if she has a girl, that Rowan would be her name. I like it either way.

I like Rowan for a boy and can't even picture the name for a girl because it sounds incredibly masculine to me. I think of rowing a boat when I see/hear it though.

It is still most often used for boys, by far. It is on our short list. I love it.

It definitely has the potential to become a unisex name, but with Owen being so popular, I think most people will think boy when they year Rowan.
