Thoughts And Feedback On Boy Names

I still have quite a list that if anything is continuing to get longer when by now it should be shorter. Anyways I'd really like some feedback on a few names because I like names that can be unusual and somewhat 'out there' and wouldn't want to stick a poor child with a ridiculous name.

Here's my list - the ones I'm worried about -

Kadence (Nicknames: Kade, Kaden)

Camden (Nickname: Cam)

Colden (Like Holden With A C, Nickname: Cole, Absolutely Love!)

Dane

Trenton (Nickname: Trent)

Ronan/Roman/Rowan (I know they are all different but I've seen them and don't know which one I prefer or which one is best)

Carson (I like nickname possible names but this one only has Car... eh)

Raylan (Love but there is also Ryland...? Nickname: Ray)

Bennett

My Two/Three Guilty Pleasure Names That I Cannot Shake Are On My List As Well:

Bentley (I like it with middle name reece)

Ryder

Ryker

 

So what do you think? And please feel free to offer suggestions, since you probably have a feel for my taste now

Interesting list...some I loved, others I really hated!

 

Kadence (Nicknames: Kade, Kaden)- Cadence is spelled with a C. I've also only heard of it as a girl's name. Kaden or Kade can stand alone as a name (I hate Kaden, but it can stand alone). 

Camden (Nickname: Cam)- Gross city in NJ. Prefer Cameron. 

Colden (Like Holden With A C, Nickname: Cole, Absolutely Love!)- Ridiculous. Cole is a standalone name, Colden is something you made up to get the nn Cole. 

Dane- NMS but the best on your list so far. 

Trenton (Nickname: Trent)- again, city in NJ. I like Trent on its own. 

Ronan/Roman/Rowan (I know they are all different but I've seen them and don't know which one I prefer or which one is best)- I really love Rowan. Roman and Ronan are good too, but I like Rowan more. 

Carson (I like nickname possible names but this one only has Car... eh)- Meh, nms

Raylan (Love but there is also Ryland...? Nickname: Ray)- Hate. Ray is a standalone name. 

Bennett- One of the few surnames-as-first-names that I like. 

Bentley (I like it with middle name reece)- This name will always sound like the trailer park attempting to go high class to me. 

Ryder- Sounds like a porn star's name to me

Ryker- A prison in NY. Anybody who has ever watched an episode of Law & Order will be familiar with it. 

 

I think Bennett and Roman/Ronan/Rowan are the clear winners on your list. Carson, Trent, and Dane are okay too. I'd ditch the others.

Dane would be a cool middle name.  

Kadence is mostly used on girls so I would steer clear of it. Cade by itself isn't bad.

 No to Bentley and Ryker.

I think Bennett Ryder would make a nice name.

ETA: Reading back through the names, Bennett Cole would be nice too.

I love Ronan and Roman! I also like Carson a lot. Bennett is OK. Kaydence is a girl name and is spelled with a C. Colden and Raylan look made-up. The rest are NMS.

If you love Cole but want a longer version, you could use Colton and the nn Cole. I've also seen Holden with the nn Holt.

Colden seems very made up to me.

I really like Ronan, Roman, Rowan.

I personally do not get the need/want to spell names incorrectly, especially if it is already an unusual name. Cade or Caden for a boy is pretty unique without spelling it a K,  the same goes for Rider it does not really need the Y. 

Carson is not bad, if you wanted a nickname you could call him by his initials depending on what you picked for a middle name. IE C.J.

Raylan (Love but there is also Ryland...? Nickname: Ray) LOVE Ryland, it was on our short list.  Don't like Raylan it sounds too girly in my opinion. 

Bennett Don't care for that much

You have a great list going!  It took us forever to come up with our boys names.  We went with Baden (yes it rhymes with Aidan) and Nolan.    Good luck and remember in the end he is your baby and as long as you love the name everyone will love him when he arrives and come to love his name also.

Do you have a thing for New Jersey? Trenton and Camden are both large cities and Rowan is a college in NJ. 

Kadence - NO. Beyond bad. It is a girls name with a trendy K mixed with trendy nicknames. You even dove into the -Aden trend. Impressively bad.

Camden - I just think of the dangerous NJ city. Cam is fine, but I prefer it as a nickname for Cameron. 

Colden - I wouldn't want to risk my kid having the nn "Cold". Why not just Cole? It is a legit stand alone name.

Dane - nms, makes me think of a dog.

Trenton - Again, NJ capital. No thanks.

Ronan/Roman/Rowan - I like these. Especially Ronan and Roman.

Bennett - my favorite from your whole list by a mile. Cute. 

I won't touch your guilt pleasures because... Well, I think I've been harsh enough. Please don't use them.

Dane - Meh. Just NMS. Nothing wrong with it, though.

I like Ronan and I'm one of the few fans of Ryker, That is pretty much the only boy name we have agreed on, except that DH INSISTS on spelling it "Riker" or not using the name at all We've have our boy name for 6 years, but we had 2 girls in that time. So i'm thinking we might be having a boy this time maybe. I think it's a cool name and I think my husband likes it bc it's a reference to Star Trek..and not the prison. (Commander William Riker)

Your list is nmsaa but that being said, I would pick Trenton as the best.

 

I could see it on a teenager/adult/elderly person when the others seem very cute or trendy. For Colden, I see "cold" first and I'd suggest just using Cole as the given name. Same for Kadence. It's unisex but so much more popular for girls, especially with the K spelling - I can't imagine a boy would appreciate that as he gets older. Caden/Cade are perfectly good names on their own.  My friend named his son Caden nn Cade and I quite like it. I'd put that second to Trenton/Trent
