Hi! I'm Katie, and I just had an appointment yesterday where they figured out that my cervix is only 2.4 cm and I guess anything under 2.5 puts me at a high risk for pre-term labor. The dr said I'd be lucky to make it to 36 weeks. So after talking to my BMB and High Risk they told me I should pop over here and see if anyone else is in a similar situation. This is my first baby by the way!
So I thought since I'll be looking at this board now I should introduce myself
Re: Hi! New to preemies
Hi I delivered my preemie at 25 weeks due to an incompetent cervix. I was at 2.4 cm at 21 weeks so that measurement at 24.5 weeks sounds pretty promising to me. I hope your baby keeps cooking for many many more weeks. Your cervix can change very quickly, so hopefully you are being monitored very very closely now. When is your doctor planning on rechecking you? Are you on restricted activity? Have you seen an MFM?
Even with a measurement of 2.4 at 21 weeks my doctor felt like it was possible to go to term. You are past viability so I am not aware of any doctors that would do a cerclage if needed, but your options still include bedrest, progesterone treatments and medications for contractions (if you are having any)
Hoping for a long pregnancy for you!

Sorry for the late response here, but so nice to hear from someone who also had a 'bad' (I guess?) cervix! I see my regular OB thursday so hopefully they give me some more information then, I haven't been told much except that they will put me on progesterone to reduce the risk of preterm labor.
I will definitely keep you all updated, this seems to be a very supportive board
