DH and I were almost set on Cassandra when I made the mistake of telling my mom. Now, I knew that in Greek mythology Cassandra predicted the fall of Troy. But the way my mom put it was that Cassandra was known as the bearer of bad news, she was cursed and was considered insane. Therefore, we should absolutely not name DD Cassandra. After reading a little more about it, turns out Cassandra was also raped and ends up being murdered. So knowing all that, would you still use Cassandra?

Use it. It's lovely and uncommon these days.
Every name has a bad association if you look hard enough.
1998 Ovarian Cancer Survivor. 7 Miscarriages: 6w, 13w2d, 4w2d, 7w4d (DD's twin), 5w. Failed Tubal after c/s (!!): 5w2d, 6w4d
I'd use it, it is so pretty and underused.
Plus BTN says it means "to shine upon man". I wouldn't focus too hard on the character in the myth.
