Excessive Blinking and Squinting in Two Year Old?

My husband and I have noticed that our two year old son has periods in which he blinks his eyes excessively and/or squints.  At first we thought he was tired but he has started to do this at various points in the day.  He says his eyes don't hurt but I'm not sure what is going on.  The blinking has been going on about one month.

He does not rub his eyes and appears to be able to see quite well because he points out airplanes in the sky and buses and trucks from very far away. 

Has anyone ever experienced this?  We have an appointment with his pediatrician on August 6th but I'm starting to get anxious about what could be causing this......

DS went through a phase of doing this too. He did it for a few weeks and then stopped and haven't done it since. I thought maybe he couldn't see since I have horrible eye sight. But he was able to point out various things far away and see things close. I think he just figured out he could voluntarily blink and squint his eyes.

No idea really though it is a common tic. I would advise taping it on your phone or something to show pedi in case he doesnt do it when you're there.

My son has bad allergies. I notice this more right when his nose seems little runner or he is ready for his medicine. He says they don't hurt and normally doesn't rub them, it just seems like they really bother him though.

My son started this around 2yrs old.  Doctor said it is a Tic and is very common and usually will go away on its own as he gets older.   

Now a yr later i still notice it but it is more when he is really tired but it has decreased.    Most likely this is what is going on so I wouldn't worry.

I will still get him checked out but It is reassuring that this may be a passing phase.

My son does this and has been for awhile....he's going to the doctors on Thursday to get it checked....makes me nervous...
