Just started spotting ..and i'm nervous

I know this could be a good thing..but I was hoping I wouldn't be alone when it happened.  My next appointment is Monday and my doctor told Mikey she was wanting to do a biopsy of a piece of tissue in my cervix..I guess that can make the numbers go down.  I don't really understand it.  Have you girls ever heard of that or had it done?  I guess bleeding before that appointment is good and must mean my body is doing things on it's own..right?  I hate not really knowing.  At least Mikey will be home early today.

((huge hugs)) My second loss was a little like yours: AF followed by + test, betas hovered, drs threw around an "ectopic" theory, ended up miscarrying without assistance. 

My current OB strongly suggested a D&C (partly to rule out ectopic) which might have been called a biopsy considering how little there was to remove, and they have to go in through the cervix to do it. I dont think she would have removed my entire lining, just the products of conception. That should help HCG levels decrease, but I haven't heard of a cervical biopsy accomplishing that. Do they think something implanted on your cervix? That can be a form of ectopic.

When I started spotting, the bleeding picked up and it was basically a heavy period. There was a little more tissue/small clots than normal, I think I saw products of conception. I was staying in Seattle for the weekend and despite how much it sucked, I was still able to enjoy parts of it. Try to think of this as a big step towards physically healing if you can. I would try not to worry-it probably is a good thing and your body may be taking care of things on its own. If you're worried though I would call your doctor.

I've had a biopsy of my uterus before, mainly to see if a pregnancy was eptopic, but also to help along with the betas going down.

The bolded is what I was trying to describe in my post above. My OB referred to it as a D&C, but it was explained to me exactly like MandaS08 described it. They would have tested for products of conception and if they would have found them, they would have ruled out ectopic.
