XP - unexpected U/S

At my U/S this morning I was told that I'm measuring at 5 weeks but I should be 8 weeks (LMP 5/29/12) . The sac was empty, which I have heard is normal for 5 weeks. The tech couldn't tell me anything. The doctor is waiting on them to read the results and send it to her. The nurse said she would call me back today. Trying to stay hopeful but feeling a little upset and numb.  I'm really disappointed I didn't get to see the heartbeat as expected. Now I just have to wait until I talk to my doctor. I'm not sure what to think. Anyone experience anything like this?

Unfortunately, it sounds like a blighted ovum.   I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best for you.   T&P

I had this too.  Turned out that I must've conceived later than I originally thought.  I hope it all works out for you!

Fingers crossed for you.  I'm praying that you just calculated your conception date wrong.  Good luck!

How long ago did you get a BFP? If you got it within the last 1-2 weeks, then I'd wait 1-2 weeks for another scan to try to see a heartbeat. If it has been more than 2 weeks, then chances are that this is not a viable pregnancy.

Unless you were charting and know your exact ovulation/conception date, there's a good chance you just aren't as far along as you think.

Unfortunately, at this point, it's a waiting game to see.

With DD, I was over 8 weeks, based on LMP, when I had the u/s, she only measured a little over 5.  I just didn't ovulate when I thought I did.

My LMP was 5-21.  Im between 5 and 6 weeks.  My dr said that I definitely ovulated late.   Good luck!
