C-sections

Ergo after c-section?

Any tips on how I can start using my ergo?  Normally I would place a backpacking backpack low on my hips to distribute the weight on to my hips and off my shoulders.  But obviously me lower tummy is sore from the surgery.

Any success using an Ergo or similar carrier after your c-section?

Re: Ergo after c-section?

  • How far pp are you?  I have the Beco Gemini and waited until about 3w out to start using it.  By then, my incision was less sore and my DS was a little bigger.  He was 5lb, 14oz when we were discharged so he seemed a little too small to wear for a couple of weeks.

  • I also have the Beco Gemini and I used it less than a week PP with no issues. I still had a skin flap that covered my incision so I think that helped a lot.

  • I couldn't really use my Ergo until about 10 wks pp, and even then I could only use it for a little bit at a time.  Don't try to rush yourself, if you don't have to!

  • I started using the Ergo at 5 weeks PP, with just slight discomfort over my incision if I am wearing her for a long time.  For short walks, errands, or just walking around the house to calm her, it's been fine.
