No, it's pronounced Sig-ne. It's a varient of Signy.
oh ok. I looked it up on 2 different pronunciation sites and they both pronounced it sig-nuh. It said the name was Finnish, so maybe that was the Finnish pronunciation.
I just tried again and found a site that pronounced it your way. But then I saw someone said "SING-neh is the swedish pronunciation as well"
I'm not familiar with the name, so maybe everyone else would pronounce it the way you did, but if there are various acceptable ways to pronounce it I'd lean away from a name like that, personally.

I agree. There are a few pronunciations. I'm on the fence with it. It's a name in our family tree, but my grandfather tells me she pronouced it Sig-nee. He didn't know much more than that when it came to the origin.
Girl names are ten times harder than boy names. I could look through the who list of girl names on a site or in a book and come up with only a handful.
Edit: Hit post before I was finished...thank goodness it's friday!

ITA!!!!! Girl names are waaaaay harder. There are so many different styles of girl names. To me, boy names fit in only a handful of categories/styles where girl names can be feminine, super feminine, gender neutral, fun/spunky, classic, trendy, etc. I find that DH and I have a very different girl naming style, where with boys we like typical "all boy" names. I tend to find less boy names that I like but DH and I seem to both be on board with the same ones.

I really love Tamsin.
I pitched it to DH but he worried that people would try to call her Tammy.
