Maybe they were worried that it would be mispronounced so they spelled it

Unfortunately it's not the first time I've seen this monstrosity...an old classmate has a cousin whose son is Joshawa. Sister is Tiphany :S.

The only way this could be spelled phonetically is if the parents had a serious accent. Yuck.
