I was asking DH what he thought of the name Drew and he said "for a girl or a boy"....of course I was asking for a boy and hadn't even thought about it for a girl....but I kind of think it's cute and I'm not really a huge fan of Drew Barrymore...or anything like that.
Too boyish? Too u-neek?
Re: Drew for a girl?
It could work as a nn (Dru) Drusilla or Drusa.
I think boy.
Drew Barrymore was named in honor of great-grandmother's maiden name and her father's mn.
Screw PP, I like Drew on a girl. I like simple, sweet names, and the fact that it's a traditional boy's name doesn't make it unappealing to me. I think it has a pretty, attractive sound that works just fine on a girl/woman.
I also know a little girl named Drew (who has sisters named Ryan and Briar). It totally works.

While I am usually militantly against unisex, or worse- purely masculine names for girls this is my one exception.
I love the soft sound of this name, how easy it is to spell and pronounce, and I just think it is plain old cute for a girl. I think of Nancy Drew when I hear it... My all time favorite heroine growing up.

I actually prefer it more for a girl than I do a boy. It's very dainty and feminine in my opinion.
