Anyone else still having morning sickness?

HI EVERYONE! :)

This is my first pregnancy, and I am wondering if it's normal to still be having morning sickness. My OB told me on my first visit that this would last about 10 to 12 weeks, but I am on my 19th week and I still wake up sick every single morning. I am not losing sleep over it, but I just want to know if it's a common thing. I tried talking to girls in my fam and friends, but most didnt have nausea for long, and the rest didnt have it AT ALL (Lucky!)

Any advice? is there something I might be doing wrong? Any tips to ease or get rid of morning sickness are welcome.

Thx for reading my post :)

Re: Anyone else still having morning sickness?

  • I'm sick constantly.  All day, all night. We've gone to the hospital for dehydration, and nothing seems to help. I didn't expect it to last this long (20 weeks), but my doctor says every body handles pregnancy different. When my mom was pregnant with my oldest sister, she had terrible morning sickness until about 25 weeks, stopped, then returned around 30 weeks and continued until she delivered.  So, though it sucks, it's life. & in the end, after all the suffering, you'll get a beautiful baby!

  • Yes! I wake up nauseous every morning and still throw up probably once a week. I notice I throw up mornings after I have spicy or greasy foods. Greasy pizza does it and so did ceasar salad with a spicy dressing. Try taking Tums before bed and that sometimes helps calm down the stomach acid a little bit. Hope this helps!

  • Yes! I am sick all day, every day! Im 21 weeks now. I have been hospitalized for dehydration a couple of times. I hope it ends soon for you and me lol. Did you talk to your doctor about getting zofran??? It works wonders!
  • Meh, most women have some sort of morning sickness throughout their pregnancy. Try eating a snack before going to bed, or if you wake up to go to the bathroom (if you don't, LUCKY) nibble on a cracker or something. Usually, having something in your stomach helps relieve some M/S, though it's not always the case. It's worth a try, though! Good luck!

  • WOW I'm so glad you said this. I am super sick too at 19 weeks! What the heck? I take Zofran to help though I hate taking extra medicine while preggo.

I've been to the hospital twice, both during one of my horrific four-hour commutes to work. It's really taken a toll. Fortunately for me, it's resulting in a bump in being allowed a medical transfer, sweeeeet.

  • 21 weeks and still sick from the minute I wake up til the moment I go to bed. I throw up multiple times a day still ESPECIALLY if I eat greasy food of any kind. But still anything makes me sick really. Hope you feel better soon!

  • At 19 weeks, yes.

I would say that just this week did it completely let up (knock on wood)... I'd say 20 weeks, 4 days or so?

No tips, just had to wait it out. :-)

  • I still have my moments (mostly in the afternoon) but I do think it's finally starting to get better. Every pregnancy is different. This is my third child and the first time I've felt like this. Like others said, I find eating frquently (and a lot of crackers) seems to help.

  • Yes.  I am on Phenergan 2-3 times a day or I vomit.  Wednesday I puked in our front yard.  On a lavender shrub.  In front of my next door neighbor.  Not my best moment.

  • I've had morning sickness throughout all of my pregnancies, it lessens some as time goes on but it never goes away completely until I have the baby.

If you're mainly having it in the morning try eating some crackers before you even get out of bed or eating something right before you go to bed.

From all the pregnant women I've known, very few have morning sickness that lingers past 12ish weeks but I guess some of us are just lucky.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • Me. Ugh. I'll be 20w on Sunday, but am still nauseous for every waking hour. I'm also on Zofran and anti-nausea pre-natal vitamins, which help make going about my work/life more possible. It had definitely receded though. Now, instead of puking multiple x day, it's only 1 or 2x a week. Haven't gained any weight yet, and am NEVER hungry. Ever. Most meats completely skeve me out. But eating small things every 2 or 3 hours definitely helps too. An apple, granola bar, string cheese, wheat thins, etc.

    Hope you're feeling better soon!
