I have my first MFM visit next Friday. and when I asked my OB's nurse whethere they'd measure my cervix, she said, "Maybe...not sure!"
Do they do this as a rule, or is this something I should request if they don't? I'm not sure where the concern lies, but I don't want to leave anything out.
Re: Quick MFM visit question
I recently switched to a high risk doctor becuase my OB who I loved but did not deliver at a hospital with a NICU. I had my first visit last week with the new doc. I am 17wks and they told me that at 14-28 weeks they do an ultra sound to check cervical length weekly.
My MFM checks my cervix during the regular sono but if it seems that it might be changing or doesn't get a good measurement then she will do a trans vaginal sono. At one visit I told her about some heavy cramping I was getting so they did a transvag then.
I go every other week and they always check it during the reg sono. They said as I get further along they will start checking it more carefully regularly.
My MFM does a transvaginal after the sono to measure the cervix. They will stop measuring at 32 weeks.

My MFM checks my cervix via abdominal u/s at the every 4 week growth u/s. However, at today's appt and at the last one they couldn't really see my cervix b/c a baby was in the way. They did not do a trans-vag u/s and didn't seem concerned.
My OB also told me to ask them about whether I should have cervical checks (I believe the OB meant manual ones) and the MFM said no, unless I am having symptoms to indicate that it is necessary.
