Cloth Diapering

Rec Your PreFolds/Hybrids

I am just starting this whole process - just got DH on board.

Do you all mind to let me know what PreFolds and Hybrids you like best? I really hate the idea of the pockets, and would rather use a diaper where I can just lay the insert or prefold in the cover (like the Flip System). What diapers do you all use and like that fit this description?

Thanks!

Re: Rec Your PreFolds/Hybrids

  • I like Flips!

I have both types of Flip inserts, but also use prefolds as inserts. I've used Osocozy Size 1s and currently use GMD red edge and sometimes the Econobum prefold. As far as covers other than the Flip, I have a couple of Grovia shells and Econobum covers. I like them all for different reasons.

Full disclosure: I would *not* have liked this type of system when DD was a newborn and pooping runny EBF poo what seemed like every 10 minutes. A snappi-ed prefold or fitted with a gusseted cover were a must the first month or so.

  • I've used Osocozy prefolds with flip covers since DS could fit in the flips.  For the newborn stage, I used a newborn cover (won't bother recommending it as it sucked) with the same prefolds.  I got the next size up prefolds when DS hit 15 lbs.

    Thank you two!!

I don't know if this makes me a terrible mother, but I am planning on using NB sposies until LO fits the one sizes.

    - I can't justify buying the NB covers that may or may not be what I need for him to wear for one month.

    - Babies in my family and DH's are usually close to 9 lbs, so I'm not expecting him to need the NBs for long.

I'm thinking I'll do Flips, GroVias, OsoCozys Econobum...and possibly gDiapers except I keep hearing bad reviews.

ETA - left out a brand.

  • I use GMD prefolds with a snappi under my grovia and flip shells. I'm not a fan of just laying prefolds/inserts inside of covers because they always bunch and then I have leaks.
