My first prenatal appt. isn't until August 10. At that point I will be 9w 6d. The wait is killing me! Then, I keep wondering about whether or not I will even get an ultrasound or be able to hear the heartbeat, or will I have to wait even longer!? At this point, I need some kind of proof that all is okay with this baby. This is my first pregnancy... You can tell, right? ![]()
Do you think it would be weird if I called the office and asked them if they usually do a Doppler or ultrasound at the first appt.? On the doc's website, it says they will do family history and blood work, but does not say anything about hearing the heartbeat or ultrasound.
Re: Waiting and waiting...
First appointment is typically family history, blood work, and urine testing. I didn't even see the doctor at my first appointment. 9 weeks is a bit early to hear the HB on doppler and most OBs only do one ultrasound around 20 weeks for the anatomy scan unless you opt into the NT scan around 12 weeks.
I totally understand that waiting is hard to do but unless there is something abnormal with your pregnancy (like bleeding for example) they typically don't do more than 1-2 ultrasounds. I was able to hear the HB on doppler around 11 weeks and they will do that at every appointment! GL!
