Babies: 3 - 6 Months

switching to bigger carseat

My LO is 3 1/2 months old and weighs 16lbs....so he's going to need a new carseat here in the next 5 pounds and he might even be too long for his newborn carseat before then.

What if he isn't ready to sit up straight for that long when we have to switch to his new carseat???

Re: switching to bigger carseat

  • I have been looking at convertible car seats because my LO is also nearing the 22 lb limit on our current car seat (probably within the next 3 months).  A lot of conertibile carseats recline so the babies don't have to sit in an upright position the whole time and they switch from rear facing to forward facing so hopefully the next car seat is the last car seat.

  • DS is in a convertible seat now (britax boulevard). It reclines so it isn't straight up, but it doesn't recline as much as an infant seat. He's 18lbs and could've stayed in his infant seat until 30lbs, but he HATES the car, so I thought changing his seat would help.

  • Convertible car seats have a recline feature and most require them to be reclined when they are rear facing. LO probably won't be quite as reclined as he was in the infant seat but he will still be plenty reclined.

  • Oh, okay. I didn't know that. Well, my grandma bought him a bigger seat but I don't know if it reclines...I'll check that out though (: he outgrows his infant seat at 22lbs so he's definitely close! Within the next couple of months I'm thinking, I can't believe he's growing up so fast!
