BG 4.0 NB inserts, how to use?

So I prepped my NB stash yesterday (thank you for the help ladies) and I washed all the BG 4.0 NB microfiber inserts I had and was wondering how you all use them.

Since the BG's arent going to fit for quite a while do you use them under a prefold for more absorbency, or by themselves in a cover? I thought the microfiber wasnt suppose to touch the skin so does it have a non micro side, or do I use a fleece liner? Or just not use them until I use my BG's haha

  • I didn't use mine until she could fit in the BGs.

You're correct, microfiber shouldn't touch skin.

  • 4.0 MF inserts should only be used inside the pockets, which didn't fit my girls until about 10 lbs, which was 9 weeks for us. At first when we switched from NB AIOs to the OS pockets, I just used the NB insert, but by 3 months, they pee enough that I switched to the bigger inserts and now the NB inserts just get used occasionally as doublers, though I prefer hemp inserts as doublers.

  • You should only use them in pockets, so wait until your LO can fit into the BGs.

They started fitting DD around 12lbs or 6ish weeks old.  I initially only used the newborn (smaller) insert, but then quickly moved to using the OS insert instead.  These days we just use hemp and bamboo inserts in our pockets.

  • Thanks ladies! I will move them over with my BGs to make space in the changing table :)
