Stink in BabyBeehinds only?

I am having some stink issues with our Baby Beehinds, which we only use at nighttime and only on my son.  It's just a nasty pee smell- exactly like dog pee would smell. I have tried soaking on funk rock and a Dawn strip.  It's getting better, but they still smell pretty bad in the morning (but not out of the washer).  When we don't use these, we use natural flips in a PUL cover and the smell isn't nearly as bad.

As far as routine, I have started rinsing the overnight dipes in the morning.  I wash EOD (CDs for twins).  I do a cold quick wash w 1 tbsp funk rock.  A heavy duty hot wash with an added extra rinse using Tide and a bit of Calgon because we have very hard water. I tried even adding a second heavy duty hot wash with no detergent and it didn't seem to help.  For the most part our other CDs (bg 4.0, flips stay dry and natural, BG fitted, Sbish, Blueberry bamboo, BG elementals) and inserts don't have any issues.  Occasionally my 4.0 covers will have a bit of a fishy smell straight from the washer, but sunning, extra rinse and/ or occasional bleach remedies that.
