I ask because 8:30am is too early to start drinking, even for me. Wes is clearly tired and ready for his first nap, but he insists on standing in the crib and bouncing up and down, crying "mama" over and over. It's killing me. I went in a few times and laid him down, but like a little robot, he gets right back up again. Please tell me this phase will pass. Quickly.
July 20th, 2012: Never forget the day the fb douchebags tried so hard, but ultimately failed. Viva la October 2011! Yeah, I called you douchebags.

Re: What do you do when they are standing in the crib, screaming?
DD started doing this when she was able to pull herself up. At first I would go in and lay her back down, but she'd just stand back up, over and over. So I stopped. She always eventually fell asleep on her own. It didn't usually take more than 10-15 minutes.
After 2 weeks of this, she mostly stopped. Now it only happens occasionally. There is hope. I promise.
This. I know it's a type of CIO, so it isn't for everyone, but this is just one of those things they have to figure out for themselves.
DD did this all hours all last week. We let her figure it out for herself one night. It took about 10 minutes two different times that night. She hasn't done it sense then.
Burned by the Bear
This phase lasted ten long, painful days for me.
I alternated between going in and lying him back down a couple of times and rocking him to sleep. Once he appeared to be mostly over it, I let him fuss and cry for one nap and then he was back to his mostly magic napping self. Mostly!
I am picturing this in my head and it looks adorable! I would've laughed too. Poor babies I just don't understand why they fight it so much!
