Russian First Names

I've always liked Russian sounding girl names - Nadia, Natalia, Tatiana, etc. I think they are very pretty. However, I can't find a middle name that would be complimentary. Any suggestions?

For the record, I am generally not a fan of super popular names.

Not necessarily. While my family has some Russian way back, we aren't Russian, so I don't' know if a Russian sounding middle name would be too much.

  • My grandmother is German with a very German first name but her middle name is Anne Louise. You could go with a classic middle name. I think Nadia Anne is lovely. Or Katherine or Elizabeth.

Then I think Rose would be very pretty. I also think Marie goes with almost anything.

My first thought was Anne too. I think it compliments them all.

  • I wouldn't worry too much about what "goes" with a Russian first name and just focus instead on a middle name that excites you- maybe a name you would never dare use as a first name, or some guilty pleasure.

  • So I have a first name that's much more common in Russia than in the US, but am not really of Russian descent.

It's a little cumbersome to explain every single time I meet someone who is Russian.  Though I did once meet a family who had given their hamster the same name my parents picked for me...

I have to laugh, I love Russian names and had two Russian hamsters. One is named Svetlana (Svetia for short) the other was Masha.

Has this been difficult for you to explain you aren't actually Russian?

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I'll have to talk to my husband and see what we both like best.
