1st Trimester

Sleeping poorly?

Despite being exhausted, I've been sleeping like crud - anybody else have that problem?  Last night it could have been due to a big storm, but two nights in a row now I've slept badly.  Any advice?

Re: Sleeping poorly?

  • yes! I am 9w4d and I can't sleep for crap even though I'm constantly tired. My poor 2 year old DD has been stuck on the couch with my coloring and doing puzzles because I don't have much energy to do much else. Hang in there it will eventually get better! :)

  • I was sleeping fine until third tri.
  • I'm in the same boat. Even last week (before I got my bfp), I took 2 Tylenol pm pills several nights and would still wake up anywhere between 2 and 4. I'd stay awake until 6 or so and then was able to fall back asleep. Hmph.

  • Yeah, I've been sleeping like crap. I wish I had advice, but it's driving me insane since I'm so tired but I just can't sleep. Mostly it's because I'm uncomfortable. I saw my chiro and got adjusted last week and that helped a lot, but even still, I had a hard time sleeping last night too.

sigh... I *hope* it gets better, but I'm thinking that's just wishful thinking...

  • Early on I had trouble sleeping due to nausea.  Now I sleep ok, but wake up at least once to pee.  Stupid water.

  • It's kind of how it will be for the next couple decade haha! No but honestly, the first tri I sleep poorly because I feel sick, 2nd tri I couldn't sleep with DD because I had to pee all the time, 3rd tri I couldn't because I was so uncomfortable. There's no surefire fix but you could try a lukewarm bath and some tea before bed. Nothing better than feeling nice an comfy! GL to you

  • Er, yeah. Typical night: wake up because I'm overheated...wake up because I'm thirsty...wake up to pee...wake up because I'm freezing...wake up to pee again...wake up for no apparent reason at all...and so on. Glorious. :) Wish I had some advice to offer...hopefully others will. Hang in there!
  • Yup!  I don't like taking naps because I feel like garbage when I wake up, so I just stay exhausted.  I fall asleep really quick, but wake up 5-7 times a night, only once to pee.  The rest are just because I'm sleeping like crap.  I don't have advice for you, sorry, but I know how you feel!  Good luck!

  • Me too! Ever since right before my BFP I toss and turn ALL night. Its now been up to a week of this. I'm chalking it up to increased body temp...?

And its all downhill from here, isn't it? LOL.

  • You are not alone sister! I'm tossing and turning ALL night long. You always hear pregnant women say they never sleep well but I always assumed that was later when they were bigger. I didn't think my sleep would be awful this soon.

  • YES! I have been waking up nauseous about an hour after I fall asleep, then I have a hard time falling back asleep and wake up every few hours throughout the night.
