I figured that I would give my question a shot on this board, being that many of you ladies have recently found out your pregnant! (Congratulations, btw!)
On Sunday, 12dpo, I had a dark spotting. My AF is due on Friday.
Today I had a bit more spotting, lighter in color this time and a bout of very uncomfortable nausea.
FRER pregnancy tests from Monday morning and this morning are negative.
Did anyone have any of these symptoms prior to receiving their BFP?
I didn't have anything like this last month.
Other symptoms that may be unrelated, but I'll throw out there:
*Swelling so much at night that I have to take off my wedding rings or it feels like my finger is going to lose circulation.
*Breast tenderness, and enlargement.
I guess what I don't understand is if I am pregnant and having symptoms, why wouldn't there be enough hormones present to show a BFP? Sort of like, if there's enough to make me feel crappy, shouldn't they show up?
I really appreciate any responses!
Thanks ![]()
Re: Not sure if this is correct board... Implantation
The general rule is that if you are pregnant enough for symptoms, you are pregnant enough to turn a test positive.
Everything you named could just be impending AF.
First the questions:
1. how do you know you' re 13DPO?
2. do you take your BBT?
Personal expirience:
I did not have any spotting, I only had cramping and major breast tenderness. It could be that the test is not + yet.
I did have similar symptoms before my BFP, except the swelling, I fortunately don't swell during pregnancy.
With my 1st time of implantation bleeding, I was able to get a positive the next day. The 2nd time, I had the bleeding really early, 5 dpos. I got a positive at 9dpos.
I would wait and test again in a day or two. GL!
Thanks for the responses. None of my friends have had spotting with their pregnancies, and I googled information, but was looking for some real life experience.
I've been practicing charting, over the past 2 months, and also did the OKP. I can't say that I am 100% sure of the day we conceived, but I think it's a pretty educated guess.
Thanks a lot Holly. I guess it really depends on the persons body (as all of this stuff does I guess!)
Also, to answer the prior questions- I went off BC about 6 months ago and have peaked within the same 3 days every month.
can you link your chart? if your not sure then it might be too early for + HPT or AF
I don't use FF or any online charting tools. My friend gave me a worksheet that I've been using every month... (I realize how insanely old school that is)... I don't have a scanner but I'll try to take a pic with my iphone.

I agree. For me, I didn't have any implantation spotting or really any symptoms that couldn't be explained by pms for that matter. I had sore boobs and some mild cramping but that was it.
Good luck! Just wait a day or 2 and test again. The 2ww is the worst!
An hpt tests for HCG levels, and the symptoms of pregnancy in the first tri are generally caused by progesterone. So, theoretically, you could experience symptoms before you get a BFP. BUTTTTT..... that being said, progesterone is the dominate hormone in the tww anyway, and that is why tww symptoms are the same if you get AF or a BFP. At that point in the game, the progesterone is produces the same way whether you're pregnant or not.
HCG levels are supposed to double every 48 hours, too. That means they increase exponentially, and even the cheapest tests measure about 50, which is very sensitive. Take another test in a day or two and you should have a definite answer soon.
GL!
PS. FF is free, interprets the data for you, and sends you awesome tutorials, so if you're open to it, I would encourage you to switch, it's just so handy. But goo for you for charting in the first place!
I'm definitely open to it, and if I don't have a BFP this month, I'll be headed over there. Thank you so much to everyone for the great responses. You've all been very helpful.
I'll be sure to post the results, if you all are interested!
Well, some follow up, earlier than I was expecting. AF paid me a visit. Hopefully I'll be able to come back to this board sooner rather than later.
Thanks for the information.
