What is the best pad to get after the C-section? I have been told to get the long ones but anyone like a particular brand or style? Also, the panites, I was thinking either the "granny panites" or the boy shorts? Thoughts? TIA
I liked long pads with wings for in my panties and long pads without wings to put over my incision (my panties held it in place). I'm not hung up on brands for pads. ETA: I used the jumbo/super/overnight absorbtion.
I liked the granny panties. Anything high waisted, faaaaar away from my incision. Actually, I still can't wear anything that sits on or very near my incision. I'm still in the GPs.
Hoard the pads that the hospital has. My nurse let me take a few packages home. I'd use one regularly then put one horizontally on my stomach (paper still attached so it wasn't sticky) towards me to cushion my incision.
I never bought panties especially for the c/s. Of course I didn't know I was going to have one. I usually wear a mix between bikinis and low cut briefs. The low cut briefs were best at holding the pad cushion in. I'd say in about a week I was back to wearing my bikinis and they never bothered me. Boy shorts might be good too. Aim for something that the waist band will hit a few inches higher that the top of your pubic hairline.

A few inches higher than the top of your pubic hairline is good adivise :-)
Get as many mesh pair from the hospital as you can. I brough home at least 20 pair. They were so comfy and easy to toss the dirty ones. I wore high leg briefs from Victoria Secret and they fit over the incision.
I hated the mesh undies they have at the hospital so I had my mom get regular hanes underwear, granny panties style. I wore them for three weeks or so. I am 2 months out and can wear pretty much any undies. My incision still has areas of numbness but I dont mind anything touching it.

This. If I have a RCS next time, I will be hoarding these. I only used them for a couple weeks then my regualer undies. I never had too much of an issue wiht them touching my incision.

I loved the mesh panties that the hospital gave me. This way I didnt ruin any of my panties and the fit was nice. As for pads I got the Always Radiant Infinity Over nights. They are thin but extremely absorbent and I really like the fresh scent as well after several days of post partum bleeding I just couldnt feel clean enough and the fresh scent helped me feel less gross.
I got the Always Infinity pads, overnight with wings not realizing I was going to have a c/s and thought I was going to bleed like a murder scene. I didn't have near as much as I thought and I actually used them in the hospital (DH was THRILLED when I asked him to go home and get them for me, lol) b/c I hated to huge phone book ones.
I also HATED the mesh panties. They kept catching on my staples before they were removed so I just wore undies that came up above the incision. Plus when I wore the pads with the wings the mesh didn't work so well...
I, too, hoarded the hospital pads.. then, once I came home, I just used regular always with wings pads -- but, my bleeding has not been bad at all.. I'd say, at most a "mild" period.. but, everyone is different.. for example, my sister bled HEAVILY.. and, everytime I see her she keeps telling me to "wait for it", and that my bleeding will pick up.. but, so far, not so much.. we shall see!
As for the undies.. I agree.. DEF buy something that sits above your incision.. I actually had bought a few pairs of boy shorts that came up close to my belly button for when I was pregnant.. those are my favorites now -- they sit high enough up, and don't roll down! I had bought a pack of hanes undies to put in my hospital bag, but just bought bikini's, not thinking of the c/s possibility.. what would happen is they would eventually move RIGHT over my incision those first few days, and then would stick to it.. so everytime I'd have to go to the bathroom, I'd have to pull them off.. OUCH! Also -- I've heard others talk about using the pad trick as a coushin in between panties and incision.. I planned to do that, but was actually told not to by my nurse in the hospital.. she said they take the bandage off at 24hr in order to accelerate healing.. if I put a pad on there, it defeats the purpose of them removing the bandage.. doesn't allow it to get air and dry out, etc.. anyway, just somethign to be aware of

I have heard about putting the pad on the panites over the incision, but didn't think about getting different ones with out the wings, thanks!
Your still wearing granny panites? How long has it been since your c-section?
