If you give LO peas...

Do you cut them in half?  LO is pretty good w/ mashing her food w/ her gums but everything i've read said to cut peas in half.  i know they could be a choking hazard but not sure when it's ok to give whole?

  • I just squish them in my fingers before I put them on his tray.

  • I don't.  She is really good at chewing things that have a skin- we started with Blueberries and moved forward.  She spits the skin out, and sometimes I still have to squish them first, but generally she does well.

  • No. I give them to her whole. She is really good at  gumming the hell out of them before swallowing. (And 99% of the time she squishes them when she picks them up.)

  • I try to steam them so they are super soft but Lo hates the skin so she doesn't get them often. I do kind of chunky puree them with other veggies to make mashed potatoes since she's dairy free I use that instead of milk sometimes.
