Need help may be a dumb ?

I have been researching carseats for a while now. I found this one. I really like it. It is a all in 1 carseat which is really cool.

Now, it says all in one BUT is it actually for newborn babies?

I read the reviews and most people bought it for their older infants, but I did find one woman who said she used it from the very beginning. What do you think? Or maybe the better question would be would you use it for your newborn?

  • My sister used a convertible car seat like this one from the beginning.  It wasn't the same brand, but the same idea.  The only thing that was a pain for her with using this was that she didn't have the infant carrier to take the baby into stores, restaurants, and what not.  She either had to wear, carry, or bring the stroller.

I wouldn't for two reasons, the first is that it looks like it sits too vertically and LO's head would always be flopping forward, and two we wouldn't have a carrier.

  • It can certainly be used as an infant seat, but you won't have the convenience of just unsnapping the seat and using it as a carrier.
  • Like PPs, I wouldn't want to use it for a newborn. Having the infant carrier that snaps in and out of a base is SO nice. I wore DD a good bit, but we still used the infant carrier a lot.

  • You can use it for an infant, but I wouldn't.  The infant carrier was a must as far as I was concerned.

This. They adjust for reclining and sitting up - we have a similar one - but there is no handle to carry it in as a carrier and you have to put the baby in a stroller or wear him/her.

  • We have it and used it from day 1. It's very safe according to the ratings. It is a pain to take a sleeping newborn in and out, but most of the time DD stayed asleep for us. It has a newborn insert and it's nice and snug.

The other thing is that it's a bit bulky, so make sure you have room in your car, otherwise there will be very little legroom for the person up front (that's what happens in one of our cars). I still recommend it :)

No, it's rather horizontal if installed correctly, which is why it takes up lots of room. We read that it's not ideal to have an infant sleeping in a carseat for too long because they need to sleep flat. So we had a stroller with a bassinet, which was like a bed on wheels. Yes, we were overthinking it, but it worked for us.

  • I would definitely not skip the infant carrier, especially with a second child. When your newborn is peacefully sleeping, you're not going to want to wake them up, take them out of the carseat and put them in a carrier. I loved the convenience of the infant carrier for the first 5 months.

  • Seems like a good idea to me but this is coming from someone that wasn't so wild about the infant carrier.  My baby was huge and that thing was just so heavy.  I would think you'd be able to use your carseat longer this way.

  • Thank you for your help ladies.

It would be really awesome to buy one carseat and be done with it. It probably would be hard with 2 children. My first hated the carseat so if we weren't driving she wasn't in it. So if the second one is anything like that I guess it would be okay.

They have a picture of an infant in it and he looks pretty vertical, but who knows if it is installed correctly.  We had a big head flop problem with our daughter, but that was in an infant car seat.

  • A friend of mine has this.  In theory it does snap out of the base but it is a giant PIA to get in and out of the base and there is no handle.  I also think it would be too big to put in those sling things at restaurants.
