Do you give snacks?

I really havent been doing much of the snack thing, mostly just the three meals with maybe some cheerios when I need him to be busy while I tend to dishes or my older DS.If  you do snack, what time do you do it?

Re: Do you give snacks?

  • I try to.  Usually right after his afternoon nap although I'll give him a couple of crackers about an hour after breakfast.  Kids are suppose to snack in between meals.  Snacking for children is not the same as snacking for adults.  They need to have a little something in between meals.

  • Yes, but only because we have such a difficult time feeding in general. I'm still trying to get him interested in food.

  • I started a snack after the afternoon nap when she cut out that bottle.  DD is down to 2 bottles per day.  I give her 1/2 a graham cracker after her afternoon nap.
  • Yes. LO gets a small snack when we arrive at DC before her morning bottle. It is usually a piece of toast with cream cheese or a mini waffle. She also gets cheerios and freeze dried fruit around 4pm. Before that she was getting puffs both times. When we started solids I always have given her permission to sit at the table with the 'big kids' and eat when they eat.
  • Not specifically but if he's really hungry and dinner isnt ready yet, Ill give him something to munch on to avoid a tantrum. Usually he's fine with grazing on his sippy of milk throughout the day.

  • Yep--2x per day.  After the 2 times I BF her after her 2 naps.  Well, I'm weaning from her afternoon BFing right now to a sippy cup of frozen BM to get through my frozen stash for this week and then next week I will stop the other daytime feed and just stick to morning and night.  So I have given her a sippy with cut up fruit for a snack when she wakes up.

  • Once at 4pm. I started as a way to replace that bottle months ago and it stuck.

We also eat lunch fairly early and dinner fairly late, so she kind of needs it. It's actually one of the times of day she eats the best.

  • Our typical day is..

    7:30 breakfast

    12:00 lunch

    3:00 snack

    5:30 dinner

We pretty much nurse first thing in the morning and between meals.

  • As we move from two naps a day to one, she gets a snack after her one afternoon nap.  This replaces the nursing session she would normally have before her second nap.  She gets hungry after a long afternoon of napping, but I don't want her having dinner at 4:30 in the afternoon.  So we have a little snack to tide her over until dinnertime.

  • DD will usually have fruit or puffs as a snack between breakfast & her 1st nap.  She has yogurt as a snack after her afternoon nap and I usually give puffs or something to munch on after dinner as "dessert".  I'll will give her more if she doesn't eat much at dinner.  I want to be sure she's had enough to stick with her through the night.

    I hope this helps!

  • Not too much. It takes her a long time to eat and we stay on pretty much the same eating schedule. If we are out and it's close to eating time, I will give her a snack of Cheerios/yogurt puffs.
  • I just snacks a few times a day. Just a couple of grapes cut up
