Fingernail problems?

My nails and toenails keep cracking and splitting. Does anyone have any idea on how to help or prevent this? I am already keeping them clipped, filed and buffed. Also, I am not wearing any nail polish except for Nail Life which is supposed to help.

    My split a lot and I've been told it's due to dehydration...but I am drinking like 10 glasses of water a day right now and no difference. I've heard good things about Nail Tek I think it's Formula II. Haven't tried it myself yet.
