I apologize if this is a stupid question, but I just remembered this board was here and this question has been bouncing around my head since getting pregnant with #2.
DS came 6 weeks early due to pPROM, but I had no other health issues during my pregnancy. In anyone's experience, does that make you high risk for #2? I have switched OB's since my last pregnancy and my appointment isn't for another month, so I feel like I'm starting from scratch.
Re: Does pPROM w/ #1 make you HR with #2?
Sorry for the delay in response.
No, it wasn't never established why it happened. From my 20 week ultrasound to when I was in labor, I didn't have an ultrasound or an internal check, so I'm guessing something was going on and no one knew. I realize that he was a late term preemie, to which I am extremely grateful, but it still worries me for this time around.

Hi OSC! Funny seeing you here (I lurk for the same reason that you posted about.) I would think it would, but my doctors aren't very helpful since they disagreed on my dates and considered me just barely 37 weeks (I wasn't) and therefore don't consider LO early. After some NICU time and her being so small, I worry that #2 will be earlier but who knows. My cervix was on the "short side of normal" meaning 3.0 or shorter even at 22 weeks and shortened gradually from there until it was about 1cm by 36 weeks. They weren't concerned because I was "supposed to be effacing!" by then and they told me I still might go overdue, but my water broke the day after my 36 weeks appointment so I guess not!
My doctor said if LO had been born a few weeks earlier they would consider progesterone shots, though, so you might qualify for those.
That's what I'm hoping for - a little closer monitoring this time around. My son was also gigantic (6lbs 1oz at 34 weeks) and since I was measuring on time from the outside, it means I probably had low fluid. If they would have done ONE u/s after 20 weeks they would have seen that something was off. I'll have to ask during my appointment next month. Thanks!

Hey Momma!! :-) So, since your doctors don't consider DD early, they're not worried this time around? That would annoy me too. :-/

Yeah, basically. I had my first U/S at 13 weeks and they bumped my due date back by a whole week. Every other U/S after that put me right back at my first date, by 13 weeks they aren't that reliable, and I KNOW I didn't get KU on CD 5, but her, what do I know, right? I think the U/S tech was just a little off in her measurement but they said they had to stick with that date in case I went overdue, which I didn't.
Other than that, I really like the practice, but I plan to be a squeaky wheel if I get concerned later on. I knew I wouldn't qualify for P17 shots anyway, but if I feel that I need at U/S to check my cervix later on, I plan to make a stink about it!
