Hey ladies!
I have a call into the office, but I haven't heard back from the nurse yet so I figured I'd get your opinions. Three random IVF-virgin questions...
1. Does Lupron need to be refrigerated? I have two conflicting pieces of paperwork.
2. Anyone have their period for a good portion of the time they were on BCPs? I started taking them on CD2 when I had already started my period. Then my period all but went away for a week or so. Then it came back and I've had it for the last 7 or so days. The nurse said to expect one when I stopped the BCP, but that isn't happening until Saturday. I feel like I've had my period all month!
3. Any restrictions on drinking while on meds? I'm doing Lupron and Follistim, followed by an Ovidrel trigger. I'm not planning on any drinking binges...just wanted to make sure a drink or two was alright.
Thanks for your help!
Re: Couple of Random IVF Questions
Hello,
Some Lupron needs to be refrigerated, and some doesn't. Mine didn't. But, the packaging or your pharmacy should be able to tell you. The packaging on mine said it was fine to 77 degrees.
My doctor didn't put any restrictions on alcohol, but it seems like most people stop drinking when they start stims.
Good luck!

Good questions! I was wondering about #1 too. As far as #2 goes, I am having the same thing. It is like I had two periods a week apart. That hasn't happened to me before even when I was on BCP before TTC. I asked my RE and he said it was very normal, especially after an injects/IUI cycle. Good luck!
Praying unceasingly for a miracle. ALL welcome!
1. Does Lupron need to be refrigerated? As always, check with your RE, but in most cases- yes.
2. Anyone have their period for a good portion of the time they were on BCPs? I had spotting/period throughout my time on BCPs both cycles, it's pretty common.
3. Any restrictions on drinking while on meds? My RE told me to act as if pregnant while stimming, meaning- no alcohol, caffeine, artificial sweeteners. I was also told not to exercise at all. Plus, after ET - no sex until beta. Yikes!
I can only weigh in on number 3; My RE said a glass of wine or so was fine so I did just that, I think while stemming I had about 4 drinks in one drink intervals. That being said I am healthy and we are doing IVF bc of male factor. Had I had issuesi would have re-thunk this!

My Lupron did not need refrigeration.
I did not bleed while on BCPs.
I would absolutely not drink at all starting when stims start. Other medicated cycles, yes. IVF, no. It is just far too important of a cycle to risk it IMO.
1) The first time I did IVF my Lupron did not need to be refrigerated. For my FET and more recent IVF my Lupron DID need to be refrigerated, but I also used a different pharmacy for the second 2 times than with the first time. The pharmacy even packed it in ice for me for my short 1/2 hour trip home.
2) For my most recent IVF cycle, I had my period for the last week I was on BCP. I thought this was odd, but my RE said it was normal.
3) I didn't ask about drinking while on meds because I don't drink alcohol. I also stayed away from caffeine.

I can answer a few of your questions - 1) I was told by my RE that my Lupron didn't have to be refrigerated until the first use and once I started using it I needed to refrigerate it going forward - if you do refrigerate the Lupron - take it out a few minutes before you do the injection. I noticed this made a big difference in how much pain I felt during the injection itself. 3) I was told as PP have have said that I should act as if I was pregnant and not drink - I didn't drink while on STIMS - Good luck with your cycle

1. The paperwork that came with my meds says Lupron doesn't need to be refrigerated until it is opened, then It does need to be refrigerated going forward.
2. I spotted pretty much the entire time I was on BC pills up until the last couple days (just took my last pill today!). My RE said as long as it wasn't bright pink/red that it is normal and not to worry.
3. My RE said an occasional glass of wine with dinner is fine. I haven't drank yet but don't think i'll necessarily avoid it completely...
