Wait.. what? (S/O car seat laws)

I just found this document while searching for car seat laws:

It says that there is an exemption for nursing babies. Has anyone ever heard of this?

I'd heard of that... but I thought it was an urban legend.  Is that for real?!

If that's real, it needs to be changed. I have not heard of anything like it.

That's insane! If your child needs to nurse you pull over and nurse! I also like the exemption for a child 8-16 in a pick up truck if all other belts are in use. So, if you choose to cram 5 people in your 3 seater truck that's cool?

One of my coworkers asked me about that when I was still bf'ing dd.  I thought she was kidding.  Apparently it was allowed 15 years ago when she was nursing her dd.

Unless you're on a Greyhound bus, why would you possibly have to nurse your child in a moving vehicle?  That's insane.

I once nursed L in a moving vehicle, but he was safely restrained in a rear facing car seat.  He was about 15 months old, screaming his head off because we got caught waiting for a long train at a crossing.  I was sitting in the middle of the back seat of my ILs truck and he was in the back passenger seat in his car seat.  I popped out a boob and it made him quiet. 

That law definitely needs to be changed.

Yikes pull over! And it doesn't specify if it's only ok for the nursing mother to be a passenger. Does that mean that it's perfectly legal to drive while nursing?

Late on this, but yes, the law has been changed.  Nice job getting folks worked up with old information!
