Cute lunch check-in

FYI, allthingsforsale.com has a ton of new bento items. I ordered a bunch of extra small boxes for DD's afternoon classroom snack. They also have a ton of cupcake topper-type picks. The quality is lower than the regular Japanese picks, and they're much larger, but they're quite cheap and are available in dinosaur, Star Wars, July 4th and other themes that aren't otherwise available. You'll see them appearing in my lunches in the coming weeks. (No, I'm not an employee, just a loyal customer!)

Party bento. Homemade sealed sandwich (chicken salad?) topped with a cheese cupcake. The pick is from a music notes collection. Apple half (red apples don't carve well, so I didn't bother), "checkered" cucumber slices, hardboiled egg with party hat, and a cookie. Cut the cucumber into slices, cut a bunch of slits around the edge, remove every other peel with a sharp paring knife, and slide the slices to it appears to be checkered.

Another lunch for DD and her friend. The ice cream bowls and spoons are from my grocery store. Spaghetti with a side of Parmesan - fast and fun.

We tried out DD's thermos container with mac & cheese so she can practice opening it. The rest of the garden-themed lunch contained cucumbers, sliced baby carrots, cherries, a mini container (I have no idea what was in here!), and raisin "seeds." I pitted the cherries and will do that when she's in school, just because her lunch period is only 15 minutes long and I'd like her to spend her time eating rather than chewing around a cherry pit.

DD requested a cherry lunch. Cherry yogurt, Rainier cherries, raisins and a few crackers, plus a PBJ sandwich. In the cherry silicone container (love this one!) are a few peanut butter pretzels and a few of the baby's cherry-flavored yogurt melts. Poorly packed and not very cute, but she finished it!

My least favorite of the week, but it features DD's favorite new sandwich - cream cheese and cucumber (I use either plain or veggie cream cheese). I tried to make the sandwich look like a butterfly with a cheese stick as the body and a few sprinkles. There's also a container of raspberries, some cherries and a few cashews and crackers crammed in there. This is packed in a metal pencil case, with a piece of food paper lining the bottom.

PIP your cute lunches here!

I do not have any pictures to add, but can I say how fantastic your DD's lunches always look?  I am beyond impressed!

  • Absolutely lovely, KateB! My DD would absolutely devour all of that fruit! So glad All Things had what you're looking for! I was tempted to get the Star Wars picks - even though DD has never even heard of SW - because those light sabers are so darn cute!
