I believe DS is ready to have Cheerios. I am not a huge fan of the plain ones, and I know most of the other Cheerio flavors have too much sugar, but what about the multi-grain ones?
DS gobbles the plain ones up, especially if I cut up a banana and mix it into little clusters! Check the label of Cheerios, you'd be surprised at how healthy they are. I don't feel guilty giving them to DS.

We do the same thing with the bananas, mostly because when they are plain, they are too slippery for DS to grab on to. His stomach is a black hole when I break out this snack!

I just get the generic brand of plain Cheerios. I had to give DD a handful on her tray before every meal for about a week before she really started eating them. She would just throw them all on the floor! But now that she does eat them, she loves them! It's so nice being able to give her some snacks other than the 'Puffs', 'Waffle Wheels', etc. In the morning, I cut up a half a small banana and give her a handful a Cheerios and I eat the other half a banana and munch on some Cheerios myself with my coffee!

Just because you don't like something it doesn't mean your LO won't or that you should stop her from exploring different flavors.
I don't like plain Cheerios but DS does. He didn't take to them the first time I offered, but he did after trying them about 5 times
Give the plain Cheerios. They have the least junk.
This. I was surprised when I looked at the labels.
