Quad Screen ?

I know each OBGYN office is different, but were you called with the results of your quad screen or did you wait till your next appointment to go over the results?  I haven't heard anything yet, and I am getting anxious.  I may just call my OBGYN in the morning and bother them for the results :)

  • I think if they call then it's bad news. If they don't then it's good and they will discuss at your next appointment. That is how I see it.

  • is that the 2nd tri blood test? if it is.. they told me at my A/S it was negative.  They didn't even bother to call and tell me this time.

  • Thanks!  That is what I figured, but I wasn't sure.  For whatever reason, I don't remember doing it with DD.

  • I used to work in a lab so I always make sure to sign the results release form and have the lab call or send them to me. I know how to read the results though, so maybe if you don't not such a good idea? But yes, with Dr's, no news is good news.

  • No news is good news when it comes to that sort of thing. If something is wrong, they'll call you. If everything is fine, chances are they won't, and they'll just wait until your next scheduled appointment. If you're inherently curious you can probably call the lab and ask about getting a copy of the results (if it's in a hospital, chances are you can go to the medical records office and sign a release form and they'll give you a copy). However, if you don't have a medical background (or aren't otherwise familiar with how to read the results), I don't recommend this. Something may look "off" to you when really it's fine - which will just cause you unnecessary worry.

Also, I had the penta screen done, and they told me it's a send-out test, which means results can take longer to get back - up to two weeks in some cases, depending on where they have to send it to.

  • They will call if something is abnormal & if all is ok they will tell you that at your next appointment.

  • My next appointment was three weeks after the blood test so I called. Didn't want to wait that long! The nurse walked me through the results over the phone.

  • I think no news is good news, but my nurse told me it only took a few days to get the results back so I called just to make sure. I didn't want to wonder until my next appt. I called 2 days after I got the test taken and the results were already back and normal.
