Cloth Diapering

Newbie question

Is there a reason why I would need more than one kind of cd? I am going to order one BumGenius Freetime. I thought if I like it I would get 24. Is that a bad idea?

Re: Newbie question

  • You might not like them for a variety of reasons. Fit, fabrics, dry time, etc. I would definitely recommend trying a few different kinds.

If you're set on the AIOs, others to try would be Tots Bots Easy Fit and GroVia AIOs.

  • Everyone will tell you to get a bunch because baby's shape can change and therefore your preference can change.

However, if you get one and like it then I personally don't see a problem with getting a bunch. My stash is completely BG 4.0, BG Freetime, and a fewBlueberry.

  • There is definitely no reason why you need more than one brand of cloth diaper.

However, you will not know what that diaper brand IS, until you try it on your baby.
Every baby's shape, size and needs are different. With the shape of my baby, BumGenius is the WORST fit of any cloth diaper I have tried. If I had personally ordered 24 brand new BumGenius before trying them on my baby, I would be horribly disappointed with the choice that I made and would have ended up selling them all (and therefore losing money).

Some people order just one brand and they get lucky and it works out great for them. If that's what you choose do to, than I hope it works out - however, I definitely do not recommend going that route.

  • like others have said- there is no reason you CANNOT order all the same diaper. I highly recommend that you don't though. Also, I really recommend that you try a variety of types not just brands, ie. AIO, Fitteds, Pockets, etc. I never thought I would like hybrids or fitteds but I LOVE them and find myself moving away from pockets. I read it a million times- do a rental before buying a lot of diapers, you WILL be surprised what you end up liking and not liking.

    Good Luck!
