Overnight Shift?

So, literally the day before my BFP, I told my boss that I would be willing to work an overnight shift every now and then.  Of course, the first schedule that came out had me on overnight, but now being pg I'm not sure about it.

Aside from the fact that I would be absolutely exhausted, do you think there would be any other negative effects on my LO? DH and I are a little worried about throwing my body off with the bean in there.

Just thought I'd see what you all thought about the idea of working overnight.  I did tell my boss yesterday, and of course she said to do what is best for me and baby, but I hate leaving them shorthanded...

I don't think there is much to worry about this early on as long as your getting rest each day (if it means opposite sleeping schedule).

  • I agree. You're not going to do any harm to the baby provided you are getting adequate sleep and nutrition. Hopefully your overnight shifts will be few and far between!

I worked all overnights with my first and we both turned out fine :) Just be sure to bring your snacks, drink your water, and get your sleep during the day...good luck!

  • Thanks ladies :) I'm sure I will do just fine, just a little nervous about everything right now...

  • Not at all. I work night and I switch back when I am off. I thought we would have trouble getting pregnant because of my schedule, we did not experience that at all tho!
    BFP #1 (7/13/12) MC (8/14) 9 weeks. D & C 8/17.

    Its a surprise! Team green!

  • You'll be fine. I'll be working an overnight shift off and on switching with day shift until the end of August then I am on permanent overnight.
