We're finally getting around to buying a video monitor since Andy is
just starting in his own room for the first time ever tonight. We're
doing a "Montessori room" meaning his bed is on the floor and the room
is totally baby proofed so he can play, but we want to see what he's
doing if we need to so video with night vision is a must. Any
suggestions?

Re: Recomend your baby monitor with video
This. I do not like the sound part of it, but for that I have a cheap sound monitor.
If you hang the cam from the ceiling and the room is not too big, you can get the whole thing without a panning camera.
We just recently purchased a Dropcam for $150 and installed it above the baby's crib. It uses an iPhone, computer, or iPad as the monitor. I LOVE it! Good price for the camera and the app for our iPhones is free. You can use as many devices as you want as a display. We have a very clear video feed of her in her crib and can also use the sound feature to hear her. There is also a way to talk through the camera, although we have no need for that.
My favorite feature is that I can watch her sleeping in her crib while I'm at work and my husband is watching her. I love to get to check in on my little bug :-) When you use it with an iPhone you'll get a text when motion or sound is detected in the room by the Dropcam.
The only problem I have with it is that it is on about a 3 second delay. Otherwise it's awesome and I totally recommend it!
Summer Infant Baby Touch video monitor. I love it and you can pan around and see the whole room.
It's their more expensive model but I also have the summer infant slim & secure video monitor for our lake house and it's not nearly as great as the baby touch which is $50 more. The slim and secure does not allow you to pan around or zoom.
