Do you guys do it? I mean everyone (that I know) thinks it is bad. I have has only one pi?a colada since I have been here in Maui and I could sure use more drinks. But H and my parents say that too much drinking could injury the child.....
It is not like I want to get fall down drunk but a lava flow sounds so good
Re: Drinking and breastfeeding
Seriously, you're fine. Just don't nurse when you're drunk.
a) The amount of alcohol you drink is not 1:1 with the amount that transfers into your breastmilk.
b) Alcohol metabolizes out of your milk at the same rate it does out of your blood. Once you no longer feel the effects, your milk is no longer affected at all. No need to pump and dump unless you're full to the point of discomfort.
c) Nurse right before or while you have a drink. That way the alcohol has the longest change to metabolize before you nurse again.
One or two drinks are fine for nursing. Rule of thumb: if you'd drive, you can nurse.

Yep. This. I actually had a family member on DH's side take away my cup of coffee at Christmas. Not cool. Mama needs her caffeine. (& wine!)
collectively i've been nursing for 33 months. there is no way on earth I would have made it that long sans alcohol. I usually drink dark beer which is good for your milk supply
you better have a few island cocktails while you're there! enjoy!!
