Lurker here with my first post:
We've been cosleeping since DS's first night home with us. We follow all of the co-sleeping safety precautions.
As I stated in post title, DS is a month old, and he's quite a mover when awake. He began rolling and scooting in the bed recently so that he can be right up in 'the girls' when sleeping. He literally likes his face planted in my cleavage to sleep, and I'm concerned with the chance of suffocation. Tonight, his little nose was just barely away from the fabric in my nursing tank. I changed to a nursing bra with less fabric to lesson the chance of smothering him.
Should I really be concerned or am I being paranoid?
Re: Co-sleeping concern with 1 month old
My dd did/still sleeps like that. It always worried me too but we never had an issue. Can you sleep with him in the hook of your arm when he's not eating, I'm sure with the strong connection you two have you'll wake or he'll wake you when he's hungry, I know dd did!
HTH!
I like pp's suggestion about the crook of your arm. I slept topless for...a long time to avoid any problems.
During winter, I bought a basic long sleeve shirt 2 sizes too small and cut a big hole out where my boobs are. I would wear that to sleep when I was cold so that the fabric would all be right next to my body and nothing would be on my breasts. It looked ridiculous, but I felt better about it.
This is a funny image
I bought henleys- those shirts that button half way down- and then left them unbuttoned for the winter.
I also like the arm idea. That's pretty much what we did when LO was around that age. She eventually wanted more space when she was sleeping.
