Switching from Nutramigen to Whole Milk??

DD's 1st birthday is coming up in just a couple weeks and I needed some input regarding making the switch from Nutramigen specifically, and even formula in general, to whole milk. I'm not really sure if I should just literally just switch her completely on her 1st birthday (so-to-speak) or try mixing the formula and milk together. What do people typically do. Has anyone had experience with this that has had a child on Nutramigen due to constipation issues and how did it work out? DD is really good at using a sippy cup, so do I give her the milk at 'meal-times' or at the same time I normally give her formula? Sorry, so many questions!! Thanks for ANY input...I'm kind of lost here and haven't had a chance to read anything about it!! :)

Re: Switching from Nutramigen to Whole Milk??

  • I asked my MIL just out of curiousity one day, and she said to just give it to DD in place of formula. We've been doing so for about 4 days now.

  • Gradual is always better. Especially in your situation since you already deal with constipation issues. Start off by doing 1/4 milk 3/4 formula...if after a few days there are no issues, move up to 1/2 formula 1/2 milk...so on and so forth until you are fully on milk. I would say to give it at the same times you have been. Once on total milk you can change the 'times' if you wish. Hope that helps! :)
