Just out of curiousity, do you include prayers with your bedtime routine?
We got ds a baby bible of stories this past Christmas, and it has a prayer at the end of each story. He doesn't really know what the prayers mean, but he does repeat after us, and he can say his favorite word - Amen. ![]()
Re: Toddler prayers
We do prayers before meals and bedtime. Instead of using the prayer at the end of her little devotion book we just use the same ones every time. For bedtime it's the classic "Now I lay me down to sleep..." She's almost got that and our meal prayer down, and she is very enthusiastic with her Amens
I think as we get closer to her 3rd birthday and she starts understanding more about it we'll include more spontaneous prayer, like the God bless ____, or tonight I think you God for ____.

Yes we do. Each night we do bible story and a book then prayers. He says the "Now I lay thee" and then he will go into thank you God for...and please bless.... We have been doing this for just over a year so he has it down pat. He will thank for whatever he did that day and bless who he was with or I will tell him so in so is sick so he say a special prayer for them.
He also does prayers before meals. Like the pp said.
This except she doesn't even attempt to say the prayers with us I do love her Amens though!
We'll also pray occasionally throughout the day about random things. For instance, if she's having a rough day we'll pray and many times she seems more calm/happier afterwards. I'd like to teach her at a young age that prayer is not just a "routine" or something we do before meals and bed which is always a good reminder for me too.
Yes, meals and at night. DD just folds her hands and names everyone in the family for her evening prayer. She then throws her hands in the air and yells "amen!".
My DS knows the Lutheran prayer for meals and he says it for us most of the time, DD will catch on soon enough.
