I'm a CD newbie and I'm still trying to figure out my wash cycle to get them clean but also remove all the suds. If anyone else has an Electrolux HE front loading washer, I would love to know your exact wash cycle.
Currently I've been using this setting and it turns out to be 1:23 in length:
Heavy duty setting
Hot/Cold
Pre-Soak
Extra Rinse
I use one large tablespoon of Rock N Green detergent and add two soaking wet towels to the load to add extra weight. I also just got some Bac-Out that I've been applying directly to the CDs before putting in my wet bag but should I not be doing that and adding it to the pre-wash (I've just recently read about people doing this)?
Any thoughts would be great!
Re: Electrolux front loader HE washer?
I have the Electrolux Wave Touch washer and here's what I do:
I do the "colors" wash for normal soil. I set it to eco-warm temp and add an extra warm rinse. NO DETERGENT. I think this cycle is 37 minutes.
Next I did a customized setting for diapers. Hot wash for extra soil, warm rinse, extra cold rinse, extra spin. 1:05 total time.
I am 6 months into CDing and this has worked great for us.
DO NOT use the sanitize setting. The water gets too hot for PUL.
I have a Frigidaire HE front loader which is made by Electrolux, so hopefully there is some similarity in settings. Here is my routine:
Wash one = quick wash setting, hot wash, cold rinse, no detergent. Total time 33 minutes.
Wash two = normal wash setting, hot wash, cold rinse, extra cold rinse, detergent. Total time 51 minutes.
It's two wash cycles for a total of 84 minutes, but since the Frigidaire is Electrolux's lower-end brand, it has fewer cycle choices. As in, I don't have a pre-soak option.
My diapers seem clean with this routine and I haven't had any problems in nearly 6 months of it. I normally use Tide or Country Save powder, though in a pinch (like this morning) Purex F&C. I've never used Bac-Out or put extra towels in the wash.
Agree with PP to not use a sanitary cycle. I also don't use the heavy-duty cycle since diapers themselves are not really made of heavy-duty materials like jeans or Carhartts which is what I think of when it comes to 'heavy-duty' laundry.
Hope this helps, but if your wash routine is working for you, there's no reason to change it.
