DH is changing jobs and I need to trim our grocery budget. Does anyone use any store brand diapers, wipes, baby wash etc that they would recommend? DH called me a brand snob the other day but I do not really have any experience with store brands for baby stuff. TIA
Re: Recommend Store Brand Products
We use a lot of Up & Up (Target) brand items. Diapers, wipes, pretty much anything that comes in that brand, we use.
I loved Target diapers, but we started getting some blowouts pretty often (maybe we need to try the next size up?). I have no problem with any kind of cheap wipe (Target, Walmart are both fine with me). I do buy the brand name soap and lotion, because everyone else's bedtime stuff doesn't smell like lavender to me. We bought Walmart and Target brand puffs and snacks, which are fine with me. For J, I'll buy almost anything store-brand, until we have an obvious issue (like 2-3 blowouts per day, which meant more laundry for me, it was cheaper to get better diapers).
Another easy way to trim the grocery budget - find the cheapest grocery store around (mine is Aldi, there's also Save-a-Lot, and others, depending on where you live). They tend to not have many brand names, but for breads, produce, dairy, pasta, snacks, cereal, etc, they can really be cheaper. Aldi saved us over $20 from Walmart prices the last time I checked the off brands side-by-side.
We have used these diapers and wipes for a year now, never had an issue.
We use Target's Up & Up diapers. Right now we are using the CVS diapers I got really cheap and they are horrible. I have to change DS more frequently because they don't hold up.
We use subscribe and save from Amazon for diapers and wipes. At home we use cloth diapers. We buy generic everything else: Target tissues, paper towels, napkins, dish soap, shampoo, face wash, body wash, contact solution, medicine, etc.
At our favorite grocery store (Wegmans) we buy generic pasta and other types of food. I use coupons and reusable bags often. Target gives you 5 cents per bag. We also save 5% with a Target debit card that uses our checking account. I even tried the extreme couponing, but had to admit failure...Stacking coupons is time consuming.
I should mention that we tried the Up & Up diapers when LO was a baby & they didn't work well. We were strictly Pampers for a while. Then we branched out to Luvs & just recently went back to Up & Up with no issues.
We also do some of our grocery shopping at Aldi.
