Seems like STMs that are doing home births had their first at a hospital. I'm a FTM, and planning a home birth and would like to have some stories to read.
I'm pretty calm about the whole thing. I think things will go fine. My husband still seems a little worried or fear driven. I'm not sure what he's hearing out there.
Re: Any homebirths as FTMs stories to share?
I do not have a home birth story, but a girl from my birth class did! She was a FTM too and planned to have a home birth. She came back to class and told us her story and it was wonderful!!
Her water broke at home and after a fairly long labor with lots of starting and stopping she had a healthy, beautiful baby girl!! You can do it
GL!
I had a home birth as a FTM.
Dare I say it was magical? Unicorns, rainbows, puppies.
I had the birth story up on the boards but it was almost three years ago now. Not sure it is still there. Here are the highlights and such:
- was GBS+ and water broke without any contractions
- did a natural induction method of a smoothie with Verbena and castor oil in it and an acupuncture treatment
- had a doula
- my DH was amazing and so helpful and we never took any birthing classes. Our doula did a birth rehearsal with us and taught him some techniques to help me.
- I laboured overnight in my dimly lit bedroom listening to an awesome play list
- everything was very relaxed and calm
- my DH wasn't so sure about home birth but saw what an amazing experience it was for him and for me and for our baby - now he thinks it is normal and awesome
- I had the best shower of my life about an hour after DS was born. I had the biggest endorphin rush. I felt like I had run a marathon, I was tired but so excited I couldn't sleep. * I have actually run a marathon. Labor was similar.
- it is totally possible to have a home birth as a FTM. Find care providers you are comfortable with, get your DH or partner on board, and let it happen.
My only piece of advice is that I wouldn't tell family and friends about your plans unless they are supportive. We only told our moms our plan after my water broke.
Good luck and PM me if you want any more details.
Awesome thread! I'm really looking forward to FTM stories! I'm planning on having a homebirth and I'm a FTM. So many people seem to think i'm crazy to be having my first one at home, but I'm looking forward to this decision over any other.
Great job, ladies!!!

Thank you all so much. I've been reading through them and fighting back the tears. I'm so excited to have my own experience.

Sorry, I have yet to figure out how to make these clicky. This is from my midwife's blog. She has other stories on the main page as well.
