  • Thanks!! I was worried I was going to get crucified for it because of the popularity, but I've got 2 kids in school, plus I'm active in my church and there aren't that many around here.

My girls middle names are Kate and Lyn, so no those. I think Claire and Grace are pretty common with Emma, so I'd like something a little different.

    Thanks again!

  • Emma is too overused and a bit bland, strongly dislike Elly (especially this spelling), and I like Emery better for a boy. How about Ellery (nn Elle)?

I have never met an Emma nor do I even know of an Emma. My daughter was in dance for 2 years & is now in cheer/tumble and there are no Emma's :) Tons of Olivia's, Paige's, Madison's & Isabella's but no Emma's :)

     Exactly! Same here!

  • DD is Emma June (after my late grandmother) and we get compliments on her name ALL the time. We also considered Emery Rose, Emerson Rae, and Ella June.

We debated the popularity issue for several months, but we had no Emma's in any of our social circles. I think it really depends on your area. I have two good friends who are nurses in the OB ward at my local hospital, and they said they haven't had an Emma in years.
  • Emma is too popular! elly or emery would be good!

  • Emery is on my short list - along with Ellery. Her middle name will be Kay. Do you have any family names you can use?

  • We've used my husband's side of the family for names with 2 of our kids and I'd love to use my family, but there really aren't very good names...My grandmother's name was Mary Gene and my mom's name is Ingrid Elisha, so....
  • Wow you had all you kids in december! geez one big party for them all LOL!

Our last name has two L's at the end, so I'm staying away from names with alot of L's in it. Elly sounds okay with it.

This argument drives me bonkers! Just because you don't see any Emmas in your circle doesn't mean they aren't out there (the SSA list doesn't lie!). Plus, you don't know where your daughter may go to college or live later on, so regional popularity isn't helping much. There were only 3 Kelly's in my entire high school, but when I went away to college, there were 10 on one floor of one dorm!

I like PP's suggestions of Ellery best. Maybe Ellery Paige?

So Elly Hall is ok, but Ellery Hall isn't? That makes no sense to me, sorry. Plus, Emma and Hanna is a bit too matchy.
