Anyone else antsy for six weeks? Maybe TMI

Before having DD, I figured I'd have to really push myself to DTD again after the birth.  Before conceiving, I had a very low libido.  While pregnant, it picked up significantly.  I'm really surprised that since a week and a half postpartum, I've been really looking forward to six weeks.  Has anyone else found this to be true?  Has anyone ignored the six week pelvic rest rule?

  • I had a c-section and at 4 wk PP, I couldn't take it anymore and we ignored the rule.  We used condoms and a little lube and it was just enough to get us through the wait.  It had been awhile,  I think the last time previous was around the late 7/early 8 month mark.

  • The docs tell you to wait and put nothing in the vagina for 6 weeks to prevent infection. The placenta left a nice big hole in your uterus that needs time to heal.

  • I ignored it with DD and we DTD at 4 weeks pp once I felt ready. This time we followed it as I had a lateral tear and it took longer to heal. I had my appointment yesterday and of course we were both too exhausted last night to finally have sexy time.

this. Not having an infection is more important than getting it on, IMO.

Not all doctors make you wait six weeks. My discharge instructions were to wait until the bright red bleeding had stopped - which it had after about two weeks, and at three weeks, we took the plunge.

  • I was told red bleeding too. We did it at 5 weeks when I just had occasional spotting.

  • We did it the other day, at 5.5 weeks PP. I didn't have any stiches or anything, so MW said it was fine after bleeding stopped, which happend 3 weeks PP.

It was better than I thought it'd be!

    Lol! Me too. ;)

My 6 week appointment is tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to DTD though. I still just don't feel right. I'm sure the episiotomy is healed by now but something still feels off. I can't really explain it.

  • I'm ready!  My checkup is on Monday.  I was feeling really ready about 3 weeks post partum (but am abiding by the 6 week rule), which is totally unlike when I had my first child - sex was not on my radar for months afterward.

  • I'm 4 weeks PP, and went to the doctor yesterday for my PP checkup, and he has already cleared me for sex. but i had delivered through a C-Section, so i guess it depends on how you delivered.
