Pregnant after 35

Partial Placenta Previa

I am 35 years old and 11 weeks along.  I had an episode pof bleeding yesterday so I went right to my Dr.  It appears I have partial placenta previa.  The bleeding has slowed down considerably today, thank god.  I was wondering if anyone has an experience they can share with PPP.  My Dr. said I just need to take it easy and hope the placenta migrates away from the cervix.  My progesterone levels are still high so the baby is doing well, I saw the heartbeat and a lot of movement yesterday.  That was reassuring.

Re: Partial Placenta Previa

  • i had it last time, I had three episodes of pretty significant bleeding, ended up on modified bed rest for several weeks & then when the bleeding had stopped for about 2 weeks was on pelvic rest until the placenta moved up.

  • This early in your pregnancy it's probably mostly an annoyance (and a nerve racking one at that) than anything else. There;s a very good chance it'll move away from your cervix as your uterus expands. My co-worker had this issue, and thought she was losing her baby, but he's over a year old now and perfectly healthy.
  • I appreciate the positive stories, it definitley helps!
  • I didn't have any bleeding but did have a low-lying placenta at our 20-week anatomy scan. OB scheduled a follow-up u/s for 24 weeks and it showed the placenta had moved up, right into place. 11 weeks is early to worry about this, but I know it's scary! FX that your placenta moves up up up!

  • I was diagnosed with ppp at 16 weeks due to bleeding as well. The condition eventually became marginal placenta previa. Never had to be on bed rest but due to the marginal placenta previa did have to get a c section. My situation was unusual though. From what I understand the placenta moves to the right place 90% of the time.
  • Hello, I am currently in hospital for same thing. I'm 24 &1/2 weeks along. This Is a scary experience, but have to leave it in Gods hands. I'm following docs orders. Strict bed rest for me until further notice.

Sounds like at 11 weeks you have time for placenta to move nicely to where it needs to be. Try not  to stress ( easier said than done,I know), take it easy and listen to your body :)

    Hope this helps,

    Good luck!
